Colour instructions and decals for 4 versions: two versions in the legendary US Navy 1970s livery, a low visibility American Navy version from the mid 1980s, and an interesting alternative from the Greek Air Force.
The Vought A-7 Corsair II was designed and constructed in the first half of the 1960s in response to the requests of the US Navy for a new carrier-based attack plane capable of replacing the propeller driven A-1 Skyraider, and the A-4 Skyhawk jet.
Developed directly from the foundation of the Vought F-8 Crusader carrier-based fighter, the first A-7's entered active in 1965. It is characterized by its large front air intake, 35° swept-back wings with folding ends to reduce bulk on aircraft carrier decks, and the use of a modern head-up display for enhanced operating efficiency.
The Corsair II could carry an impressive offensive payload, typically comprising free-fall bombs, Paveway guided bombs, and air-to-surface missiles. The A-7E was the final version produced for the US Navy with an augmented operating capacity. The A-7E could also carry Harpoon anti-ship missiles and AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles.
