A new edition greatly requested by model makers on Italeri's social media accounts.
The Boeing EA-18 G Growler was developed to satisfy a precise requirement of the US Navy: provide a new plane specialized in electronic warfare to replace the Grumman EA-6B Prowler, which was getting old in terms of both avionics and performance.
The Growler is derived directly from the two-seater carrier-based F/A-18 F Super Hornet fighter, basically conserving all of its aerodynamic characteristics.
The two General Electric engines guarantee the Growler a top speed of Mach 1.8 and performance in line with the planes it has to support.
The crew includes a pilot and a WSO (Weapon System Officer) in tandem. Unlike the F/A-18, it is not fitted with a cannon but can carry under-wing radar jamming and electronic warfare pods, supplementary fuel tanks, chaff and flare dispensers, as well as AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles.
